More Than Just A Job”

At Good Shepherd Hospice, we understand that compassionate care isn’t just a service, it’s a calling. And at the heart of that calling are our Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs). This week, as we celebrate National Nursing Assistants Week, we want to take a moment to shine a light on these invaluable members of our team and express our deepest gratitude for their unwavering dedication.

CNAs are the hands and hearts of hospice care. They provide essential support to our patients and their families, offering comfort, dignity, and practical assistance during a sensitive and often challenging time. Their work extends far beyond basic tasks; they build meaningful relationships, offer emotional support, and become trusted companions.

Imagine the comfort of a warm bath, the relief of a freshly made bed, or the simple joy of a shared story. Our CNAs provide these moments and countless others, making a profound difference in the lives of those we serve. They are:

  • Dignity Champions: They uphold the dignity and respect of each patient, ensuring their final days are lived with grace and comfort.
  • Caregivers Extraordinaire: They assist with daily living activities, ensuring patients are comfortable and well-cared for.
  • Emotional Pillars: They offer a listening ear, a comforting presence, and a gentle touch, providing crucial emotional support to patients and families.
  • Observant Advocates: They are the eyes and ears of our care team, noticing subtle changes in patients’ conditions and communicating them effectively to supervising nurses.
